Coming Soon to Pine Valley--Recycle Bins!

Our town council has been working on getting some recycling bins installed at our dump site. They should be here before long, so we can begin to position ourselves to help our environment by separating our garbage and getting the re-usable materials to the correct bins. Waste has a huge negative impact on the natural environment. Not only does it waste resources that could be reclaimed and fill up massive amounts of land, but the chemicals and greenhouse gasses released from rubbish contribute to pollution.

An added reminder is to observe the rules of our dump site in general so that we don't lose the site!

Help the Bees in the Valley

Several residents in the valley will have bee hives this summer, which will help pollinate your berries, fruits and vegetables as well as native plants. In fact, it is estimated that bees are responsible for about three in every five bites of food in the United States.

You can help the bees by planting bee friendly flowers and herbs in your yard and by using as few chemicals and pesticides in your gardens and lawns as possible. If you do need to spray, spray in the early evening when most of the bees have returned to their hives. We all know that bees are disappearing throughout the world so anything we can do to help them will help all of us in the end.

January Snow

This morning Pine Valley woke up to fresh snow that had fallen so beautifully as to create a postcard anywhere you looked. We took a walk on the Santa Clara River walk up to the reservoir and shot some winter pictures. So beautiful! (you can click on them to enlarge)
