Pine Valley Saddle Fire 2016

Preparedness is taking precautionary measures to be ready for potential disasters. These actions can include both physical preparations such as gathering emergency supplies, adapting our buildings and property, and trainings for emergency action. There are many different types of preparedness depending on the area a person lives and the possible natural disasters they would most likely encounter.

We, in Pine Valley live in the heart of a forest, which we all love, but we need to be prepared for the possibility of wildfires. Our cold winters and rural power sources mean that we need to prepare for cold. Earthquake is also a possibility. Recent supply chain disruption has also shown us that shortages can occur quickly and widely for a variety of reasons.

We can’t stop disasters from happening, but we can prepare ourselves both physically and intellectually so that we can make it through the disruption in the best way possible. In this section of the blog, we want to assemble information that might be of use to our community members as they become better prepared.
