Pine Valley Voluntary Evacuation Partially
Lifted
in Saddle Fire Area
PINE VALLEY, Utah – Washington County public
safety officials will partially lift the voluntary evacuation for Pine Valley
residents. A portion of properties at the top of Lloyd Canyon however will
remain under a voluntary evacuation. Those properties will remain under
voluntary evacuation while firefighters continue completing containment lines south
of Lloyd Canyon to prevent the Saddle Fire from moving down the canyon.
The partial voluntary
evacuation will be lifted at 8 p.m. today, Friday, July 1.
Properties in Lloyd Canyon
that remain under a voluntary evacuation include the following roads: south on
Lloyd Canyon Drive at the Mahogany Lane intersection and south on Oakridge
Drive and Mahogany Lane. Those residents should continue to remain prepared to
evacuate in the event the Saddle Fire conditions change.
The Dixie National Forest
area closure in and around the Pine Valley area remains in effect. All
campgrounds, hiking trails and the entire area within the Pine Valley
Recreation Area are closed to all uses.
The Saddle Fire, started
by lightning on June 13, continues to burn within the Pine Valley Mountain
Wilderness. Firefighters have prepared firelines around the Pine Valley
community in order to protect homes and other community infrastructure. The
fire is 42 percent contained and has burned across 1,540 acres within the Pine
Valley Mountain Wilderness.
For information about
those areas closed on the Dixie National Forest can be found on the Saddle Fire
InciWeb page at http://inciweb.nwcg.gov/incident/article/4794/31098/.
